Overview:

Northwest Investigative Services engaged me to evaluate the health, stability, and security posture of its Windows Server 2012 environment. The assessment provided actionable recommendations to address risks and prepare for modernization.

Challenge:

The organization was running critical applications on aging Windows Server 2012 systems approaching end-of-support. Leadership needed a clear understanding of infrastructure risks, performance bottlenecks, and migration options.

Solution:

I performed a comprehensive infrastructure assessment that included:

  • Reviewing Active Directory configuration and group policy management.

  • Assessing server roles, capacity utilization, and storage.

  • Identifying security vulnerabilities related to outdated patches and unsupported features.

  • Documenting dependencies across applications, databases, and network infrastructure.

  • Recommending an upgrade and migration roadmap to newer Windows Server versions or cloud alternatives.

Results:

  • Delivered a detailed assessment report with prioritized risk areas.

  • Identified immediate vulnerabilities that required remediation.

  • Provided a phased migration roadmap to reduce downtime and cost.

  • Positioned the company to modernize its infrastructure and improve long-term security.
